If you’re looking for regular tarot readings in your day-to-day life, but don’t want to learn how to read the cards yourself (and don’t want to pay for a reader to read for you every day), you should consider downloading a free tarot reading app.
Technology has come incredibly far these days, and there are apps that offer way more precise readings than the old-school ‘pick a card’ variety. In fact, there have been a few occasions where these apps have been so spot on in my readings that I felt a little wigged out. Because honestly — who expects a computer to intuitively connect with a person’s life and current struggles?
Below you’ll find my recommendations for the best tarot app that I believe is well-developed and worthy of putting your trust in (and is 100% free), as well as two others you might consider using if you don’t like the first one.

3 Free Tarot Reading Apps to Check Out
The first tarot app I’ve included is my favorite — hands down. I’ve been using it for years, and it just keeps getting better and better. Plus, it’s seriously completely free, with no ads or in-app purchases.
The other two on this list are decent, but I don’t love them. They include ads, or you need to make purchases to get full access without ads. On top of that, I have some reservations about the design, functionality, and/or spreads and layouts included. But they’re still worth checking out if you want to start a daily tarot reading practice.
The Labyrinthos Academy Tarot Reading App
I’ve mentioned this app on the blog before, and it hits my top spot for a recommended tarot reading app. That’s because it’s a passion project for the creator, Tina Gong, and a well-done one at that.
This app is financed and supported by the proceeds of the Labyrinthos Tarot Decks and shop (BTW — I have three decks from Labyrinthos and they’re all amazing — totally recommend purchasing a physical deck from the shop). You don’t have to pay for it, and it doubles as both a tarot card reading app, as well as a tarot-learning resource.
I love it because you can choose many different well known tarot spreads or create your own custom spread, pull your cards, and then get the keywords and meaning of that card right there in the app, so you don’t have to jump around to figure out what the cards are telling you.
The other amazing feature of this app is the Journal. When you save your readings in the app, you get insights about common themes that keep popping up in the cards. This is an incredible way to find a deeper understanding of what’s going on in your life.
And for the record, this is the app that has wigged me out a few times because it provided such an accurate reading.
The Only Thing That Could Be Better
This app doesn’t allow you to choose your cards intuitively from a pile or deck, whereas the other two do. Instead you get automatically drawn cards as soon as you choose your reading, and you just flip them to reveal. While this doesn’t bother me so much, it might take some of the fun out of it for you.

Daily Tarot Card Reading Deck App by Ivan Antic
This tarot reading app has both a free version, and in-app purchasing options. It works with an energy system. You have 10 free energy to start, then earn 3 free energy every 24 hours. This energy is used to do tarot readings.
Different tarot spread readings cost different amounts of energy, but you basically get enough free energy every day to do one reading. You can also earn more energy for free by watching video ads, and can purchase more energy for money. Kind of like the games you play on your phone. Ads also pop up at random after taking different actions, which can be a little frustrating when you’re trying to choose a reading to complete or focus on the question you’re asking.
The readings themselves are okay — you can do a Yes/No reading (which I’m not necessarily a fan of), a daily single-card pull, and a celtic cross reading — but those are the only ones that seem to be well-designed. The 3-card reading focuses on Love, Future, and Career, which I’m not a big fan of. It seems like a random combination, rather than one of the traditional 3-card spreads.
The meanings of the cards show up and make decent sense, so I think this is a good app for a daily tarot reading, but not necessarily for more in-depth readings.
Still, it might be worth a download if you’re looking to start a daily reading log, which this app is capable of tracking for you.
Tarot Card Reading — Astrology App by Touchzing Media
This is another tarot reading app that can be used for free with ads. The ads in this one are more prevalent, but you do have the option of purchasing the ad-free version for only $2.99.
I like the spreads and layouts you can choose from in this app — they’re more traditional and you know what you’re getting into when you choose a spread. However, I’m not a fan of the look and design of this app. Something about it feels a little aggressive to me. It’s probably the red coloring and busy screen. But since that’s a personal preference, I’ll leave it to you to make a final decision.
The meanings of the cards make sense, and the daily card draw gives an interesting insight into multiple areas of your life as relate to that card, which is a neat feature.
Overall, this is a pretty good option for free online tarot readings if you can get past the design of the screen.
A Caution About Free Tarot Card Readings on an App
While I recommend a tarot reading app for everyday use, please remember that it doesn’t replace human connection and the kind of readings you can get from a human reader, whether that’s me or someone else. There are just some things a computer can’t tell you.
I also believe that no app is capable of giving you the kinds of insight a professional tarot reader can, as they’ve spent a lot of time honing their skills and intuition and will be able to tell you more than the generic definitions of the cards included in all of these apps.
Final Thoughts — Is a Tarot Reading App Worth It?
I think a free tarot reading app can be a good way to start and maintain a daily card reading practice, but I don’t think it can replace hiring a tarot reader to help gain insight into some of your bigger questions.
Certainly spend a little time with these apps and try them out, but don’t put all of your faith in them. Then again, maybe just have fun with them!
